Darwins Theories- Descent with modification, Modification by natural selection

Descent Modification- This is Darwin's fist theory. This theory states that newer forms appearing in the fossil record are modified, and actually descended from older species. Darwin stated that all species come from one or more original types of life.

Galapagos Finches- Darwin studied the finches in the Galapagos islands. He thought that these birds came from another ancestor. As he studied these birds, it helped him create the thoeory of evolution. Darwin figured that the finches where related to the ancestors but changed due to isolation and chance. He believes that thirteen types of finches evolved from one species of finch. They had to evolve because as they seperated, the food sources changed. He beliveved that every time a new population was born, they became less like the original ancester
